LA Auto Show 2024: Driving into the Future with EVs, Hybrids, and Consumer Favorites

Much like other major auto shows across North America, the LA Auto Show (held this year at the Los Angeles Convention Center from November 22 nd through December 1 st) received a much-needed bump in attendance after the negative impact from the COVID pandemic beginning in 2020. Lizeo was there on the scene during the Media and Industry Preview Day to capture the essence of the show and to get a head start on updating new fitments that auto manufacturers are ushering into 2025.

EVs and Hybrids Capturing More Attention

For the last 4-5 years now, auto manufacturers have made pledges to “electrify” their new vehicle lineups with many new passenger, CUV, SUV, and light truck models hitting the market. There was no shortage in displaying these models at the show as this plays into a very “eco-conscious” crowd from Southern California. Manufacturers like Ford, Toyota, Hyundai, Honda, Rivian, Stellantis Brands (Jeep, Fiat, Ram, Alfa Romeo), and others were on display with gas powered, hybrid, and EV models. In all, about 40% of the vehicle models displayed were of the EV or Hybrid powertrain type.

Light Trucks, CUVs, and SUVs Still Getting a Lot of Attention

Ford, Ram, GM, and Toyota were showing out with impressive displays of their SUV, CUV, and Light Truck lineups. Many new models debuting in 2025 included the Chevy Equinox EV RS, Chevy Traverse Trax RS, 2026 Honda Passport TrailSport, the all-new Acura ADX, Hyundai Ioniq9, GMC Sierra EV, and the KIA Seltos SX Turbo AWD just to name a few.

Closing

Concept cars used to be the catalyst products for manufacturers to showcase at Auto Shows. Now, there is more of a focus on the core of the consumer market where you see sports cars and sedans largely absent. As consumer demand continues to shift, we at Lizeo will focus on making sure our databases are up to date and reflect this continuing change in consumer automobile buying trends.
